Ridens combines many decades of experience in consultancy and EU Public Affairs. 

Ridens is an EU public affairs and business consultancy practice which takes pride in providing personalised, high-level counsel. Our consultants have extensive experience in a wide range of sectors, such as natural resources and environment, international trade, information technology, and retail and consumer goods, as well as in strongly regulated markets like alcohol, gaming and chemicals. Our offices are located in Brussels, the home of the European institutions, and just a stone’s throw away from the European Parliament and other EU buildings. We also operate internationally when needed, with local partners in relevant markets overseas.

Meet the team

Maurits Bruggink is a seasoned Public Affairs consultant with over 30 years experience in Brussels and internationally. He established Ridens Public Affairs in 2009 to offer tailor made services and provide clients with a sense of having their own office in Brussels. Over the years, Maurits has gained knowledge and experience in a wide range of sectors and policy areas. These include the toys sector, gambling, e-commerce, alcoholic beverages, metals and minerals, postal delivery, information technology, sports and others.  Policy areas include consumer protection, VAT, data protection, standardisation, internal market, and several others. Maurits is a Dutch national and holds a Master degree in International Trade from the University of Leiden.  He has working proficiency in five languages – Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish. Maurits also holds a ski-instructor licence.

Elisabeth joined Ridens in September 2019. She is responsible for political monitoring and advocacy on European business, international trade, digitalisation and chemicals policies. Prior to joining RPA, Elisabeth worked as a Women & Gender Equality and International Trade policy advisor at the European Parliament and assisted in the office of Kay Swinburne MEP.  She also gained events & logistics experience at Eurojust and has a specialized knowledge of UK devolved politics, developed as a Visiting Researcher at the Wales Governance Centre and the Welsh Parliament. Elisabeth is a former Fulbright Fellow and holds a Master’s degree in EU Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She received a bachelor’s degree in European and German Studies from the College of William & Mary.  Elisabeth is an American national. She is fluent in English and German and has a basic knowledge of Dutch, Russian and Welsh.

Anneleen joined Ridens as a Consultant in February 2020. She is responsible for events coordination and policy monitoring on European raw materials, sustainability and trade policy. Prior to joining RPA, Anneleen worked at the Mobility & New Energies Department at TOTAL and completed an internship as a political journalist (EU and Belgian politics) at VRT NWS. She also worked as a research assistant for the Institute of European Studies at the ULB. Anneleen holds Masters degree in Political Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and in International Relations from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Anneleen is a Belgian national. She is fluent in English, Dutch and French.

Alexis joined Ridens as a Consultant in September 2020. She is responsible for political and policy monitoring on European business affairs and international trade. Prior to joining RPA, she gained experience at Amnesty International, Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain and UNICEF. Alexis holds a bachelors degree in Political Science and will complete a Master's degree in Public Policy and Management at SOAS University of London in 2021. Alexis is an American national. She is fluent in English and has basic knowledge of Arabic and French.

Elise joined Ridens as a Consultant in September 2020. She is responsible for political and policy monitoring on raw materials, environment and international trade. Prior to joining RPA, she gained experience at the European Parliament assisting Francis Zammit Dimech MEP. She also completed an internship at Brunswick Group, with a focus on energy, sustainability and food and drink. Elise holds a Master’s degree in European Public Affairs and Communication from IHECS. She received a bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Maastricht University. Elise is a Belgian national. She is fluent in English and French and has basic knowledge of Dutch.

Nikoleta joined Ridens as an associate in 2015. She is responsible for all design and branding activities, including the creation of brand (association) names; logo designs and visual identity; creation of info-charts, banners and annual reports; and other corporate material. 

Daniel Paterson

Daniel is an experienced government relations professional with more than a decade of experience working in EU and member state policy development.  In addition to consultancy work, Daniel has had various roles in political campaigning. He was campaign manager and political advisor to then UK Minister Richard Harrington MP in the 2017 General Election and former Attorney General Dominic Grieve in the 2019 General Election. At an EU level, Daniel was advisor in Brussels to Vicky Ford MEP.  In his role with Ridens Public Affairs, Daniel focuses on EU-UK relations.  Daniel holds a a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in International Studies.
